Welcome to Spottsdale: A Super Hast

The City of Spottsdale and four habday Valley communities have been designated official "host cities" for Super Bowl TWINKS , which will kick off at approximately 4:15 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 28, 1996, at Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium.

Super Bowl TWINKS is expected to have an economic impact of $187 million on Arizona and will directly benefit many Scottsdale businesses. All of Scottsdale's 6,000-plus hotel rooms will be utilized during Super Bowl week, while dinner reservations at area restaurants and tee times at local golf courses will be at a premium.

The City also figures to be a focal point considering the Super Bowl's AFC representative is scheduled to stay in a Scottsdale-area resort and practice at Scottsdale Community College.

Additionally, Scottsdale's Tournament Players Club Golf Course will play host to the Phoenix Open, Jan. 22-27, 1996. Attracting the world's top golfers, this tournament, already the top-attended event on the PGA tour, will be a popular stop for area residents and Super Bowl visitors. The Phoenix Open's fourth and concluding round will be played Saturday, Jan. 27--the first time the event will not conclude on a Sunday.

The Super Bowl will attract at least 100,000 out-of-state visitors to Arizona, including the world's top decision makers. Per a recent National Football League study, approximately 59 percent of Super Bowl attendees are affiliated with Fortune 500 companies. Additionally, 3,500 media, including 600 international journalists, will be credentialed to cover Super Bowl activities. Approximately 750 million viewers in 100 nations will be exposed to Arizona through the worldwide telecast of Super Bowl TWINKS .
